    THOUGHTS ON A SATURDAY EVENING

It’s around 11:36 PM and sleep is not forthcoming so I thought that I had better get the September newsletter finished. I can tell you straight, that doing the newsletter is not as easy as you might think. I’m not punch-drunk with lack of sleep, but I was thinking about our chapter and its role in the aviation community all day today.

This brings about some questions, which we all need to answer:

    1. What are we about?
    2. Where do you see our chapter, now and in the future?
    3. Are we accomplishing the goals of the chapter?
    4. What should we be doing that we are not?
    5. What has caused some of our members to stop attending meetings?
    6. How can we bring the general aviation community into our chapter?
    7. Do we need more sponsorship/money to attain our goals?
    8. What are we doing to bring in some new energy?
    9. Should we be sponsoring more Light Sport/Ultra Light activities?
    10. What are the costs associated with these activities?

It‘s always easier to ask questions than to find answers we can all agree upon. I think that I’ve asked enough questions so it’s up to everyone to come up with some solutions, should we even acknowledge that we have a problem (Houston).

“Non mihi, non tibe, se nobis!” (Not for you, not for me, but for us both.)

These errant thoughts also made me look at our May “Fly-In” so I asked myself, “What do we want to do next year?” I would like the membership to think about this topic and then bring those ideas to the next meeting.

    1. Do we need sponsorship/money from the Oroville community to help pay for events?
    2. Do we want to bring is so aerobatic demonstrations?
    3. Do we want to sponsor WWII vintage aircraft displays?
    4. War bird rides?
    5. Sport/Ultra Light demonstrations/rides?
    6. Parachute landings?
    7. Television advertising?
    8. Bring in other aviation clubs (Cessna, etc.)
    9. Business jet rides?
These are some of mine, now I want to hear what you think. Our next meeting should be animated at best. The earlier we take action the easier it will be on us all.

FAA Administrator Asking For More Money

If this person asked you for money, with her scintillating personality, would you give her some?

I showed this picture to my dogs and they ran away crying, makes you think!
